Honda’s smallest little sportbike is the Grom (MSX125 in certain areas of the world). The bike has been out since 2014, but for 2017 it gets a new, more aggressive look. This should only add to the bike’s already rampant popularity. And why wouldn’t you love this little thing? It’s cool in the way that the old Honda CT70 trail bikes were cool. Only the Grom is for the street.
While not necessarily the best bike for a beginner, the Grom could be a decent choice if you wanted something different and didn’t plan on riding on the highway. Honda equips the Grom with a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with programmed fuel injection and a four-speed gearbox. This, paired with the Grom’s overall small size and extremely light weight make it the ultimate urban commuter bike. It’s essentially a badass scooter with a proper gearbox.
Aside from the power plant and transmission, the Grom comes with an integrated gas tank and side panels, a tail that’s kind of swept up towards the sky in true sportbike fashion and a LED headlight. For 2017 the style has been tweaked a little, but for the most part, the bike is still recognizable as a Grom.
Colors for the new model are red, white, yellow and gray. If you’re interested in one of the new Groms, it’ll set you back $3,199, which is the same price as the previous year’s model. Look for the new Grom come August of 2017, but if you see one, be sure to snatch it up because these things sell fast.
