Honda has a new Rebel starter bike after many years of selling their venerable model basically unchanged. The new Rebel presents a good mix of old and new style and comes with two different engine options, neither of which is a 250cc.
The smaller engine option is a 286cc single cylinder liquid-cooled engine dubbed the Rebel 300 by Honda. The larger engine option is a 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine called the Rebel 500. Personally, if I were a beginner, I'd opt for the 300 because that engine is the same as the CB300F and CBR300R. It should be plenty quick enough. Still, if you think the 300 isn't enough, the 500 should add a little more grunt without being too fast.
Aside from the engines, the new Rebel looks awesome. It's more modern and has a lot of blacked out features. It's downright badass looking and should be a boon for anyone looking to get out on two wheels.
The 2017 Rebel will come in silver, yellow, black and red. ABS is available for both the 300 and 500 but limits your color options to black. Price for the 300 is $4,399 and $5,999 for the 500.
If you're looking for a great bike and want something that's modern, fun and easy, you're going to have a hard time finding a better motorcycle than this.
