Motorcycling is better when you have a kickass bike. While you can customize any motorcycle and make it into the bike that you always dreamed of, some come with a custom look straight from the factory. Here are some cool bikes that are perfect for beginners.
Harley-Davidson Street 500
Harley-Davidson has offered the Street 500 for a few years now. It's a damn good looking bike and generally better than getting something like the Honda Rebel or some other small 250cc bike because you won't outgrow it so fast. While you can always pony up the $6,849 for a new bike, you should be able to find one of these sweet rides used for a little less. If you think you'll outgrow the 500 consider bumping up to the 750 for a little more power.

Honda's CBR has been a great choice for anyone after a good sportbike for decades. The CBR300R is near the bottom of the CBR line in terms of power, but the bike is still pretty damn quick and totally capable of carving up some curvy roads or the occasional recreational run on a track. If you're looking for an awesome sportbike at a reasonable price, at $4,399 for a brand new bike, you'll be hard pressed to do better.

KTM 390 Duke
KTM's known for racing and the 390 Duke certainly continues to carry on that kind of feeling while still being a suitable bike for new riders. Although it's no liter bike, the 390 Duke is plenty fast and you probably won't outgrow this bike for some time. With a price tag right around $5000, it's actually affordable too. If you want one cheaper than that you're going to have to really hunt for a used one, because not as many of these sell as, say, Hondas, and I have a feeling people will hang on to these beauties.

Cleveland CycleWerks Misfit Gen II
Cleveland CycleWerks is a small company out of Cleveland, Ohio, that focuses on simple, practical and all around badass motorcycles. While the company's HQ is in Cleveland, they sell most of their bikes overseas because many Americans haven't warmed up to the idea of a smaller motorcycle. The Misfit Gen II -- a cafe racer inspired bike -- should please those people though because it's a bigger, faster bike than the first Misfit (although it still has a smaller engine) and it just looks so dang good. Prices aren't specified on the manufacturer's website, but we saw a Gen II bike listed for under $3,700.

If you're going for an old cafe racer style motorcycle, but don't want to get an old bike, the Suzuki TU250X is probably your best choice. At $4,399 the bike is reasonably priced and since it's been out a while, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a used one. It isn't going to be as fast as something like the Honda CBR or the KTM 390 Duke, but it will be a heck of a fun bike to ride around town.
