Suzuki has lacked a true contender in the entry-level sportbike segment for a while now. The good news? The GSX250R will be coming in 2018. That's right, Suzuki will have a fully-faired sportbike with a bonafide 250cc engine that should be a real riot for beginners and those seeking a small, sexy and fun motorcycle.
The basis for the GSX250R is the GW250, which is a little bland in terms of styling and performance. Because the new bike shares so much with its older sibling, I don't expect it to be crazy impressive in terms of speed. It has a 248cc fuel injected twin engine, the same as the GW, which makes less power than most of the competition.
Suzuki seems to place importance on comfort, ease of use and styling. This makes the model a perfect bike for those new to motorcycling because it's not too powerful but offers everything else that you could possibly want. As far as I can tell the 2018 Suzuki GSX250R will be a superb starter bike.
The bike should hit showroom floors come April 2017. It will come in white or black. Pricing has not yet been released, but I''d be willing to bet it will be affordable.
I think this is an excellent choice for Suzuki. The company seems to be going in for new riders pretty hard with this and the addition of the VanVan 200.
