I'm a big fan of full face helmets. They offer the maximum level of protection. While there are good half helmets and modular helmets, I'll usually recommend someone get a full-face lid. The HJC CL-17 full face helmet is an excellent choice if you're looking for an affordable motorcycle helmet.
The HCJ CL-17 offers and advanced polycarbonate composite shell, a scratch resistant faceshield that ratchets open, and an advanced ventilation system throughout the helmet to keep your head cool. The inside is specially constructed to remove moisture from sweat, and the fabric inside is anti-bacterial. Still, you should clean your helmet from time to time.
Overall, it's a great helmet and highly rated by people who've bought it. at about $127 you can't really go wrong. It's not wildly expensive and offers more features and better construction than some other helmets out there.
